Le navire, avec plus de 600 tonneaux (entre 1100 et 1600 T de deplacement), 68 mètres de longueur totale ( 27,7 m de quille et 40 mètres entre parallèles), retournait de l’Inde, après plus d’un an et demi de voyage, avec environ 250 tonnes de poivre et autres marchandises précieuses. C’etait une nau des indes typique pareil à celles que sont descrites dans les traités portugais de construction navale du final du XVIe siècle. Elle à naufragé en un peu plus d’une heure.
